Shumen: ASF confirmed in dead wild boar in Varbitsa
Shumen. The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) has confirmed new cases of African swine fever in wild boar in three regions, the BFSA said on its website. Two dead wild boars were found in Zmeitsa village in the region of Smolyan. A dead wild boar was also found in Varbitsa, Shumen region, and in Novo Gradishte, Veliko Tarnovo region. All samples were confirmed positive for the African swine fever (ASF) virus by the National Reference Laboratory at the National Diagnostic Research Veterinary Institute in Sofia on Thursday. These are the first positive samples in wild boar for Shumen and Smolyan. The BFSA urges the community to be responsive and responsible to the serious epizootic situation and to implement the prevention and biosecurity measures.
